IMPS IM

The Colibria IMPS IM server module enables flexible messaging and Presence on OMA and IMPS-compatible handsets and other clients. It is the industry's leading IM and Presence application, and the standard for testing and benchmarking associated applications.

The module forms part of the Colibria IM Delivery System – the foundation for Operator Community IM services – and comes complete with the following features:

Standard features include:
  • Presence: Supports all Presence attributes defined in OMA CSP 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 including client-specific attributes. The module also includes several searchable Presence extensions such as age, gender and hobbies.
  • Instant Messaging: As a one-to-many and many-to-many messaging tool in OMA IMPS, IM sends messages to consumers with an IMPS identity, mobile numbers, or to aliases in contact lists. Consumers can also send messages to entire contact lists, more than one consumer, and public and private groups. However, only the sender receives answers to these messages. The server also includes such features as typing alert extensions, SMS, and wake-up.
  • Groups: Consumers can organize friends into communities and chat with more than one consumer at any time. Every group member will receive the messages. Groups can be opened and closed at any time, allowing everyone to join if open, while only members can join closed groups. A consumer-created group is a private group and a system administrator-created group is a public group.
  • Shared content: This feature allows consumers and groups to share content, such as pictures and sound files. The service refers to the content with a URL, permitting all allowed consumers to access the files.

Advanced features include:
  • Auto provisioning
  • Client adaptation
  • API for application integration
  • Colibria Elevate platform, supporting OSS support functions and back-end integration:
    • Supports latest OMA features and protocols – OMA-IMPS Server Protocol versions 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 – including mandatory and optional IM and Presence components
    • Interworks with existing messaging services such as SMS and MMS, allowing full two-way messaging between IM, SMS and MMS
    • Interconnects with other communities through SSP, XMPP and SIP
    • Interconnects with SIP/SIMPLE and IMS by Interworking with SIP/SIMPLE IM and Presence servers
