M1 to bridge the gap between mobile and online communities

Colibria, the leading global provider of new generation messaging and social networking solutions, today announced that MobileOne (M1), a leading mobile network operator in Singapore, will soon launch a new, innovative mobile Instant Messaging (IM) service to its 1.6 million mobile customers.

This turnkey solution from Colibria will enable M1 customers to express themselves spontaneously and share experiences whether at home or on the move. They will be able to instantly send and receive pictures with fellow M1 customers, as well as conduct multi-party conversations with Google Talk users, both PC-based and mobile, in the region.

While growth in voice and messaging revenues are flattening in some markets, consumers are searching for new, exciting and interactive ways of communicating with individuals, groups and communities. Colibria’s award-winning technology ensures operators can fully exploit the revenue potential of mobile IM - one of the largest telecoms service opportunities since the launch of SMS.

This is the latest cutting-edge service to be launched by M1 and will provide a superior messaging experience for the operator’s young, tech-savvy subscriber base. Mobile messaging is already extremely popular in Singapore with over 950 million SMS messages being sent every month, and this latest deployment will provide M1 customers with a feature-rich, user-centric service that meets their evolved communication needs now.

The service will enable M1 to grow existing mobile communities, develop new mobile communities and encourage an additional sense of affiliation and loyalty from their customers.

Chief Marketing Officer of M1, P. Subramaniam said: "Instant messaging has become increasingly popular with many Singaporeans in recent years. By offering this web-based social networking service on the mobile platform, customers will be able to enjoy the convenience and mobility of mobile instant messaging wherever they are."

Keith Gibson, CEO of Colibria commented: ‘‘The key driver for mobile IM is the ability to provide a seamless, richer experience for consumers. Mobile messaging currently accounts for over 80% of operator data revenues worldwide and mobile IM is the next evolutionary step for this already very successful market.’’

Colibria is fostering a rapidly growing customer base in the Asia market. The M1 deployment follows the first Asian Interconnected mobile IM service between Maxis and DiGi in Malaysia that was launched in November 2007
