First Asian Mobile Instant Messaging Interconnect Launches with DiGi and Maxis, Powered by Colibria

Ground-breaking service enables over 65% of Malaysian subscribers access to instant group communication.

DiGi and Maxis, Malaysia’s leading mobile Operators have launched Asia’s first ever Operator interconnect Mobile IM (MIM) service powered by the leading MIM and Presence solutions provider, Colibria. These new services will provide MIM capability for over fifteen million subscribers with a solution from Colibria’s award-winning Elevate product portfolio.

The mobile IM services will allow DiGi and Maxis subscribers to seamlessly exchange messages with their friends and colleagues across both networks providing a totally new type of community-based mobile experience. This pioneering solution implemented by Colibria also has the capability to interconnect with other Operators’ MIM services throughout Malaysia.

The Colibria Elevate MIM solution utilised by both Operators is fully interoperable with SMS and also provides innovative mobile and PC-based Instant Messaging clients. Supporting SMS continuity, as advocated by the GSMA’s Personal IM Initiative, is a vital part of ensuring a seamless messaging experience for all users.
