Colibria is Focused on Presence at CTIA Wireless 2005
Colibria is launching its Colibria Companion Instant Messaging and Presence Server into the US market at CTIA Wireless 2005, to leverage presence-driven communications on IMPS and IMS-enabled networks, including Instant Messaging Gateway functionality.
Colibria AS, the leading international developer of mobile instant messaging and presence (IMPS) technology platforms, is marking the US launch of its new generation core network platforms on Booth #6749 at CTIA Wireless 2005 (March 14-16, Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, LA). The company's carrier-grade Colibria Companion Instant Messaging (IM) and Presence Server is a scalable, flexible and future-proof solution that supports advanced presence, messaging and multimedia services. It enables rapid and economical rollouts, and provides mobile operators with the means to build new ARPU-increasing revenue streams. The Colibria Companion represents a standardised platform that supports seamless, efficient network and service evolution. Most recently, it has been selected by Saunalahti Group Oyj - the fastest growing MVNO in Finland - for deployment in the first Nordic launch of an IMPS service, scheduled for later this month.
Also being introduced to the US market at CTIA Wireless 2005 is the Colibria Cast Media Suite of products, which enable mobile campaigns, polls and competitions to be set up easily and quickly. The Colibria Cast suite offers a powerful set of audience interaction solutions for promotions and broadcast tie-in applications, enabling service providers to provide customers with a powerful set of tools to create and administer campaigns. Comprising Colibria Cast Mobile Campaign and Colibria Cast Mobile Vote, these products offer enormous potential for both media companies and service providers as an important low-cost channel for increasing revenue with exciting new services.
Colibria Companion - Internet Instant Messaging Gateway
Colibria is demonstrating its Internet IM Gateway at CTIA Wireless 2005, by showing gateway access to Microsoft's MSN Messenger Network through the IMPS client-server protocol. Users can log on to their MSN accounts, communicating with the same contacts as through the MSN Messenger, with Presence also propagated across the networks, giving the user a native feel. The equivalent functionality can also be applied to other instant messaging services, such as AOL and Yahoo.
Colibria Companion - Multiple Client Operability
Colibria is also demonstrating the universality of the Colibria Companion Instant Messaging and Presence Server, showing it in operation with a variety of IMPS and SIP clients. The demonstration encompasses embedded IMPS and SIP clients from various mobile phone vendors, as well as downloadable smartphone clients, Colibria's own PC client, WAP client and SMS client, with all communication between the devices being handled through the Colibria Companion server. This practical presentation underlines the ease with which different clients access and use the services provided through IMPS, and how the differences in style and functionality offer a choice of feels to the end-user.
Colibria Companion - Mobile Community Solutions
Developed in close co-operation with major operators, the Colibria Companion - Mobile Communities demonstrates how a community site can be presented to the mobile user. Based on IMPS, it enables operators to offer subscribers the ability to share pictures and chat with existing friends, or with the whole mobile community.
The Colibria Companion IM and Presence Server combines the necessary tools for delivering the most advanced services from a reliable, resilient evolutionary platform. A powerful messaging and presence enabler, it delivers certified OMA WV support for presence, instant messaging, groups, shared content and core features. The Colibria Companion comprises the full range of core components:
- Presence server
- Instant Messaging server
- Instant Messaging Gateway (MSN, AOL, Yahoo)
- Groups server
- IMPS PC and Mobile Clients
- Communities and Blogs server and clients
- Chat server
The Colibria Companion contains powerful presence interfaces and APIs that can be used to share presence information between a variety of applications, over and above core Instant Messaging functionality. This supports existing and new applications that use presence information more intelligently, enhancing standard telecom services - for example, SMS, MMS, voice calls, games and communities, where the emphasis is on meeting new friends and encouraging group interaction, and on maintaining efficient contact with staff and work colleagues.
