TTPCom completes IMPS Interoperability Testing with Colibria
Colibria AS, the leading international developer of mobile instant messaging and presence (IMPS) technology platforms, announces that TTPCom is the latest mobile applications software developer to complete IMPS interoperability testing on the Colibria IMPS Test Server. Following an initial agreement in late 2004 between the two companies, TTPCom has recently completed a comprehensive round of tests, achieving a fast-track development of its IMPS Client, which is now incorporated within the TTPCom AJAR applications platform. TTPCom is one of over 80 different mobile operators, service providers, applications developers and client vendors to use Colibria's IMPS Test Server in recent months, with Colibria reporting regular users from over 27 countries that are testing new presence and IMPS-related concepts and applications.
TTPCom identified Colibria's IMPS server technology as the most advanced platform for its test/evaluation process, with Gøran Gynnild, product manager, explaining: "We designed AJAR to deliver an extremely high level of flexibility, enabling a single applications investment for low-end to high-end multimedia phones, as well as portability across multiple modems and architectures for 2G and 3G handsets. As a result, we needed to conduct a wide-ranging set of tests on a field-proven server platform that would demonstrate the performance, reliability and flexibility of our IMPS Client, operating in conjunction with the broad range of pre-integrated TTPCom and third party applications. We established an excellent working relationship with the Colibria team from the outset. The company's proactive approach helped identify and rapidly fix potential problems, allowing us to pass the OMA IOT with flying colours."
Commenting for Colibria, CTO Lars Kristian Roland said: "TTPCom has developed some of the most advanced and user-friendly IMPS clients that we have seen so far in the market, and we are excited to be able to work closely with them. They have shown an excellent combination of deep technical competence and market understanding, and we look forward to seeing their future developments within the IMPS area. The successful joint testing and development with a number of client vendors, such as TTPCom, has established Colibria as the leading IM and Presence vendor in the industry. This position has been established over a number of years by our commitment to interoperability testing and open standards through our work in OMA and other organisations. Interoperability in IMPS is very important to our customers and is a key success factor when launching these services in the market."
Colibria's server technology has established itself as one of the most advanced platforms currently available, enabling mobile operators and application developers to deliver and evolve IMS and IMPS services and applications. Colibria is assisting a growing number of mobile network operators with IMPS trials across Europe, Asia and Latin America, as they start to accelerate IMPS server deployment in their networks. IMPS servers represent an essential component en route to enabling subscribers to take full advantage of the embedded clients in current-generation handsets.
