Colibria Focuses on IM Interconnectivity at GSM>3G Middle East & Gulf
Colibria focuses on the server-to-server interconnectivity of its IM and Presence solutions, on Stand No: 15 at GSM>3G Middle East & Gulf (Dubai International Convention Centre, 11 – 12 September 2006).
Colibria AS, the leading international developer of Mobile Instant Messaging (MIM) and Presence solutions, is demonstrating the most recent innovations incorporated in its Colibria Companion IM and Presence Server, at this year’s GSM>3G Middle East & Gulf event in Dubai. Colibria’s prime theme is server-to-server interconnectivity, emphasising the ability of its solutions to provide seamless communication between instant messaging services – whether fixed or mobile.
Also being demonstrated is Colibria’s IM Gateway. A recent addition to the company’s powerful Colibria Companion portfolio, it is a carrier-grade solution that allows mobile network operators to offer their subscribers interconnectivity with external IM-based messaging services. It provides certified access to leading messaging services such as MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, ICQ and AIM, and is designed as the optimum solution for operators wishing to capitalise on the existing messaging market, whether or not they wish to build their own IM communities. Based on the proven Colibria IM and Presence Server platform, it can be either hosted by Colibria or deployed in the operator network.
Colibria is actively supporting the GSMA’s global Personal IM initiative on many fronts, with the company’s on-stand demonstrations illustrating a range of solutions that focus on building IM Communities by ensuring the highest degree of interoperability – across networks, platforms and devices. The demonstrations include:
- Cross-network IM operation, showing server-to-server interconnectivity for interoperability between mobile networks and fixed networks
- SMS Continuity; how operators can leverage SMS success through Mobile IM interworking with SMS
- Colibria’s IM Gateway, demonstrating interconnectivity between MIM services and the established PC-based IM services, such as MSN Messenger
- Colibria’s extensive selection of IMPS clients, offering a converged and multimedia IM experience, including Symbian, J2ME, legacy clients and a feature rich PC Client.
Colibria’s Presentations and Keynote Participation
Colibria’s expertise in the IM arena is being emphasised by the company’s CEO, Keith Gibson, who is presenting Developing Mobile Communities in the Seminar Theatre at 11:00 on the first day. Keith is also a keynote speaker on the second day, participating in "A New Era for the Messaging Market" within Stream 1 – Strategy & Services, with a presentation entitled The Rise of Mobile Instant Messaging, which will look at the growth of the wireless IM market and the importance of building customer relationships to increase ARPU.
The Colibria Companion IM and Presence Server offers a set of powerful carrier-grade instant messaging and presence enabling solutions, and is capable of delivering certified OMA IMPS and SIP/IMS support. It has unmatched embedded client interoperability, as well as support for legacy clients – SMS, MMS, HTML, XHTML, and WAP. It incorporates a feature-rich PC client, and supports a multitude of downloadable terminal clients, including Symbian, J2ME, iMode, Microsoft Mobile Clients and BREW.
Colibria’s IM and Presence platform is an established powerhouse, providing a growing number of mobile operators and strategic partners with a cost-effective, scaleable, and flexible resource on which to base a burgeoning range of compelling enhanced messaging services. The design focus for Colibria’s platform is to deliver an end-to-end solution for flexible service integration, combining a wide range of applications that include viral community building, blogging and content.
