Fastest-growing Mobile Operator in Turkey joins Mobile Instant Messaging advance

Colibria, the leading global provider of mobile instant messaging (MIM) and Presence-enabled solutions, today announced that Avea, the fastest growing mobile operator in Turkey, has launched a Windows Live Messenger service to its ten million mobile subscribers. The service is based on Colibria’s award-winning solutions portfolio.

This new MIM service will enable Avea’s customers to enjoy instantaneous chat with fellow subscribers, as well as the vast worldwide community that use Windows Live Messenger via a PC.

This turnkey solution from Colibria will mobilise the traditional online messaging service, giving mobile users the ability to impulsively express themselves and share experiences whether at home or on the move. The service will enable subscribers to instantly send and receive pictures, and sound, as well as conduct multi-party conversations with other Windows Live Messenger users.

While growth in voice and messaging revenues are flattening in some markets, consumers are searching for new, exciting and interactive ways of communicating with individuals, groups and communities. Colibria’s technology ensures operators can fully exploit the revenue potential of MIM - one of the largest telecoms service opportunities since the launch of SMS.

Keith Gibson, CEO of Colibria commented, "Turkey is one of the most innovative mobile markets in the world. This is proven by the Windows Live Messenger service we’re launching with Avea. Colibria has constantly demonstrated that it has the most innovative and flexible MIM solutions in the market today, illustrated by our track record of successful deployments throughout 2007."

İlker Koçak, CMO of Avea added, "With support from MSN, Windows Live Messenger solution was the obvious choice. Simple to implement and with the flexibility we demand to move fast, we’re confident that this solution will help us continue our drive as the most innovative operator in the region." Ilker Koçak continued, "The appetite among our subscribers to be constantly in touch with their friends and family is growing and this is a key development in satisfying that hunger."
