Colibria Brings New Advertising Capability to Industry-Leading Mobile Instant Messaging Portfolio

5 Jun 2007

Exclusively demonstrating new IM-MobileAds application at Global Messaging, 5 - 6 June.

Colibria, a leading developer of new generation Mobile Instant Messaging (MIM) solutions, has introduced a mobile advertising application, IM-MobileAds, to its Elevate messaging portfolio. The application enables banner ads to be inserted into the MIM interface, including the ‘buddy list’ and messaging screens.

With over 100 million mobile MMS and SMS messages being sent by subscribers across the UK every day according to the MDA, emerging MIM services have the potential to provide one of the highest consumer ‘eyefall’ rates on mobile. Colibria’s advertising application will allow operators to use the real estate on the MIM user interface to promote services and products to their subscribers.

Banner ads will run either at the top or the bottom of the screen and users can click through as normal for additional information or web links. Ads can be used by operators to promote their own services and content, or to generate additional revenues from brands keen to capitalise on the intimacy and immediacy of the mobile handset.

Matt Hooper, EVP Marketing of Colibria commented: "Mobile Instant Messaging is a far more community focused messaging service than either SMS or MMS. This makes it possible to accurately target specific groups of people with relevant advertising using a MIM interface. The new tool highlights the potential of MIM as a mobile advertising channel, as well as its ability to enable operators and brands to bring targeted mobile advertising to life. Continual innovation is vital to operators to engender customer loyalty and Colibria is committed not only to providing seamless messaging solutions but to supporting new business models that are evolving across mobile service portfolios."
